LIBRARY / SHOWCASES

Photo books are an essential part of Sakse’s mission to create a microcosm of media. We make sure our books are widely seen by bringing them out of the gallery and into other public spaces, such as refugee camps, workshops and our rotating showcase at Mr. Yue, a popular bar and coffee shop in Laiza.
The Sakse library holds over 300 hardback photo monographs. In addition to the physical library in Laiza, we have organized many photo book showcases & events at other spaces & events in Myitkyina & Yangon. Part of our collection was also donated to a photo gallery in Yangon.
Publishers, please donate to our growing library and learn more about how you can support Sakse in Kachin.

Artist in Residency Program
This program brings emerging and established Kachin media makers out of their geographically isolated homeland for a three month residency with access to international advisors ready to help them with their projects. The residency program currently includes a choice of two space for living & working for free.
These projects are either; editing a film, writing a screenplay, editing a large body of work or creating a photo book.
Sakse hopes to offer food & transportation stipend in Chiang Mai + Passport / visa / transport to and from the residency - which is beyond the reach of the majority of people in Kachin / N. Burma.
Please support Sakse to fully realize this project, it would have a huge impact of the quality & quantity of media coming out of Kachin.
